Kogi Residents Lambasts FERMA, Saying They Have failed, causing untold hardship on motorists.
Residents of Lokoja and it environs said the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) in Kogi State have failed in it responsibilities, causing untold hardship on the lives of motorists.
Motorists and residents decried the failed portion of the Ganaja road along Nyanmayanma, before the bridge, pointing out that for several years, it has one day in of untold hardship.
The Motorists lamented that the last 72 hours has been gridlock between the Ganaja Primary School, making motorists suffer unnecessarily.
The Motorists equally called out the contractor handling the failed portion of the Ganaja road for insensitivity, explaining that ordinarily, nothing stops the contractor while working to quickly intervene, lamented how the contractor has turned away their eyes from the suffering of motorists.
According to Samson Ebeh, “In other places nothing stops the contractor from filling the failed portion. This is a contractor that has spent three years just to fix a less than 1 km road in all for three years now”.
Also speaking, Mr. Ali Atabor, a resident of Ganaja equally called on the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) to urgently intervene to help residents and motorists using the busy Lokoja-Ganaja-Ajaokuta road.
He particularly said around the Ganaja Primary School area, has become hellish for motorists and hundreds of road users in the last two days.
“A question on everyone’s mind is: isn’t the maintenance of this road the responsibility of FERMA? Why aren’t government agencies tasked with fixing damaged roads prioritizing the Ganaja axis? As things stand, movement through this spot remains stressful with no signs of intervention. We urge the relevant bodies to act swiftly to halt the unending agony of the motoring public”, Atabor stressed.
For now with no alternative road to the East, Motorists by reason of the intervention of relevant authorities are going through untold suffering plying the Lokoja Ganaja Ajaokuta Federal Road.
