Kogi PDP Chairman Praises Ododo’s Anti-Banditry Stance, Pledges Support, as Afemai People Endorse APC Gov for Second Term.
Kogi State PDP Chairman, Mohammed Sani Gambo, has praised Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s fight against banditry and kidnapping, declaring the PDP’s support for the government’s security efforts.
Gambo made the remarks at the Afemai people’s annual end-of-year celebration in Lokoja, where the Afemai endorsed Ododo and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term, the PDP Chairman however urge Gov. Ododo to do more on the protection of lives and properties in the State.
He lamented that the last weekend has been challenging in the State, urge for a change of strategy, pointing out that Kogi West seem to have been overwhelmed.
The Chairman called for the formation of community policing outfits, described security as local, insist on improved benefits for the nation’s security outfits.
Hon. Gambo expressed optimism of PDP taking over Lugard House and Aso Rock in 2027, lamented the suffering Nigerians are currently going through as failure by policies that has no direct bearing on the lives of the people.
The Afemai people, who have lived in Kogi State for over a century, at the event pledged to deliver 50,000 votes to the APC in the 2027 general elections.
Their leader, HRH Alh Zakaria Dangana, appealed for recognition of their traditional stool and solicited employment, political appointments, and empowerment projects for their qualified indigenes.
Governor Ododo who was represented by the Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr Yahaya MD Farouk, assured the Afemai people of consideration for their requests, advising them to form a formidable group to present their case to the government.
In his opening remarks, Abu Michael, Chairman, Afemai Progressive Union, said the gathering is for sober reflection, reposition Afemai people for socio economic development, particularly, ahead the 2027 General election.
He solicited support for Afemai sons and daughters, in the area of employment, appointment and empowerment, urged the State Government to identify with the Afemai People Resident, pointing out that having lived in Lokoja for a century, have become indigenes, contributing to the socio economic development of the State.
