KOGI NLC CHAIRMAN RECEIVES NAWOJ LEADERSHIP, CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL BODIES AND ORGANIZED GROUPS


 

Kogi state Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Onuh Edoka has called on the state government to support professional bodies and organized groups to give them sense of belonging.

Comrade Edoka made the call in Lokoja while receiving officials of Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Jounalists led by the Chairperson, Anne Olurinde.

He said the appeal became necessary as such professional bodies and organized groups often contribute positively to governance and the general growth and development of the state.

The state NLC boss noted that NAWOJ has no other state to call its own hence government should give such a group necessary attention.

According to him, the organised labour in the state will not relent at providing purposeful leadership, noting that the achievements recorded under him are not enough as workers are yet to reach their destination in terms of general welfare and legitimate entitlements.

Comrade Edoka commended the NAWOJ officials for their untireless efforts, saying as mothers they needed to be nurtured properly.

The NLC Chairman promised necessary assistance towards strengthening the body and thanked them for the visit.

Earlier, the Chairperson of NAWOJ, Comrade Anne Olurinde said they were in the office to familiarize with Comrade Edoka, whom they noted has contributed significantly to labour movement, both in Kogi state and Nigeria at large.

Comrade Olurinde noted that such hardwork and reputation earned him the position as National Vice President of Medical and Health Workers Union in charge of North Cental zone.

She promised continued loyalty and cooperation with the NLC Chairman, both in his administration and future aspirations.

The NAWOJ Chairperson appealed for assistance towards nurturing the Association to enviable heights.

The Vice Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Obaka Meliga and Secretary of the NLC, Comrade Owoeye witnessed the visit.
