By joshua Kogi NLC Chairman, Gabriel Amari Mourns Death of NLC General Secretary, Emmanuel Ugboaja, Describes His Death As Devastating
The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Kogi State Council, Comrade Gabriel Amari, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the NLC General Secretary, Comrade (Barrister) Emmanuel Ugboaja.
Comrade Amari described the death of the NLC General Secretary as a devastating loss to the Nigerian labour movement, noting that Comrade Ugboaja was a committed trade unionist, accomplished legal practitioner and courageous labour leader who advocated for the rights and welfare of Nigerian workers.
In a condolence message, the Kogi NLC Chairman said the late General Secretary made remarkable contributions to the growth and development of the labour movement, particularly through his commitment to workers’ rights, social justice, equity and good governance.
According to him, Comrade Ugboaja’s intellectual depth, humility, courage and unwavering dedication to the cause of workers earned him the respect and admiration of trade unionists across the Country and beyond.
“His death is a painful and irreparable loss to the Nigeria Labour Congress, the organised labour movement and the entire working class in Nigeria. He was a brother, a comrade and a dependable voice for the oppressed. Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja lived a life of service and left indelible footprints in the labour movement. His contributions to the struggle for a better working environment and improved welfare for Nigerian workers will remain a lasting part of his legacy,” Amari said.
The Kogi NLC Chairman on behalf of the workers in Kogi State, commiserated with the immediate family of the deceased, the National Executive Council of the NLC, the leadership and members of the Congress, as well as the entire Nigerian working class.
He prayed to God Almighty to grant the family and the labour movement the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, while asking for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed labour leader.
Comrade Amari urged members of the labour movement to honour the memory of the late General Secretary by sustaining the ideals of justice, workers’ dignity, solidarity and collective struggle to which he dedicated his life.
“Though Comrade Ugboaja has departed this world, his voice, his struggles and his contributions to the Nigerian working class will continue to resonate. May his soul rest in perfect peace,” he added.
