As part of activities marking the end of the year, Kogi NEWMAP, today held its end of year meeting with the State Technical Committee (STC).
The meeting provided the perfect opportunity for the PC, Barr. Ladi Ahmed Jatto to properly brief the newly assigned Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (MENR), Barr. Suleiman Omeiza, who is the Chairman of the STC on the activities of the SPMU.
The Project Coordinator used the occasion to showcase the SPMU’s scorecard to the members, whilst letting members decide on how well the SPMU has done thus far.
Issues bordering on project sustainability were thoroughly discussed, as members expressed their concern on the possibility of keeping the beautiful drainage system clean.
Responding, the PC, whilst assuring members that the already established Waste Management CIG have been well equipped and trained to maintain the drainage system in all the active Sites in the Communities of intervention, also admonished the MENR to take ownership of the Project, and equally do its best to support the Waste Management CIG as much as possible, as the task of maintaining the humongous investment of the State Government is an arduous one.
The meeting came to a close with the Permanent Secretary, MENR, assuring the SPMU of the continued support of the MENR. He equally admonished STC members to ensure that they stop at nothing in supporting the good works being done by the Government of Kogi State through the instrumentality of Kogi NEWMAP.
