Kogi monarch Identifies Insecurity as great challenge to 2023 Census


 

 

A first class traditional ruler in Kogi state, the Obaro of Kabba, His Royal Majesty, Solomon Dele Owoniyi who is also Chairman of Okun Area Traditional Council has identified insecurity in the country as a great challenge to the success of 2023 Population and Housing census.

 

 

He made this known when the Federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission in charge of Kogi State, Professor Jimoh Habibat Isah and his team visited the monarch in continuation of sensitization in the state.

He noted that the security situation in the country is given the nation a great concern.

He pointed out that for the 2023 population and Housing census to be successful, the federal government and the state government should take a pro active step towards solving the insecurity situation in the country.

The first class traditional ruler stressed that some part of the country have been taken over by insurgents and bandits adding that unless the situation is brought under control, 2023 population and Housing census may not be successful.

He commended the federal Commissioner of the National Population Commission, Professor Issah Jimoh for the good job and assured him that they will give his team maximum cooperation when they start.

Earlier, Professor Issah Jimoh said the trial population and Housing census that will commence this month is to prepare for the actually 2023 population and Housing census in the country.

He noted that the coming census cannot be manipulated because of the high technology involved.

He stressed that all loopholes in previous census have been tracked by the Commission, added that the coming population and Housing census will be different.

He said the staff have been motivated very well by the Commission in order to avoid people, community and even politicians corrupting them.

He promised that the commission will conduct a credible and transparent population and Housing census in 2023.
