The Kogi State chapter of the Obidient movement, at their 53rd General Assembly, shortlisted 3 of the 18 Governorship candidates, ahead of the November 11 Kogi Governorship election.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja at the weekend, the State Coordinator, Dr Sunday Bala OMA, who doubles as the youngest Governorship Aspirant in 2019, on behalf of the State Executive Council, disclosed that after their meeting on Saturday, June 24 at Swiss Pearl Continental Hotel, Abuja.
Congress shortlisted the following Governorship Candidates, ahead of the all important election, scheduled for November 2023. They are:
1. Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka (SDP)
2. Hon. Leke Abejide (ADC)
&
3. Dr Sam Omale (YPP)
The three were shortlisted due to their track records in terms of human capital and community development, as well as their contribution to our governance structure in the just concluded 2023 general elections.
While the trio scored above 70%, all other 15 candidates scored below average. However, the final selection to get a consensus amongst the 3, which the entire Obidient structure in the 239 Wards will support, shall emerge in due course.
In another development, calls for peace before during and after the Governorship election in Kogi State.
They called on the security Agencies to strive towards ensuring peaceful coexistence in the State.
Oma concluded by calling on the citizens not to take laws into their hands, but remain optimistic of a peaceful election.
