KOGI GUBER 2024: IJUMU UNITY GROUP CHAIRMAN, OLUMOKO CHARGES OKUN TO UNITE


 

The Chairman of Ijumu Unity Group, Honourable Funsho Olomoko has charged the people of Okun/Kogi West Senatorial Districts of Kogi state to unite if truly they desire to occupy the Lugard House in 2024, noted that it is only with unity of purpose that will the zone to achieve it.

He disclosed this yesterday at the occasion of the inauguration of both Board of Trustees and Executive arm of the group in Iyara, headquarters of the local government area.

According to him, at times to be successful in life you must take risk because often times what you fear the most to do is the very thing that will set you free.

” The big question on our lips today is are we as Ijumu, Okun people ready to take the bull by the horn? or are we just wishing to occupy Lugard House?, Have we forgotten that power is not serve al arcarte? That the time to take steps is now? Where are our first eleven? In oneness we should make this demand bearing in mind that it’s oneness that make Jews Jew and Arabs Arab,” he said.

He noted that they talked about numbers, but there hatred for each other, pull down syndrome individual greed and the likes are the major challenges facing the people of Okun nation.

“Remember that minority in some states in this country have produced the Chief Executive of those states and whatever differences we have also existed among them equally but we magnify others and that truly tear is apart bitterly, but if we as a people will make considerably impact, politically economically and otherwise, that element of oneness is caviar and of utmost importance,” he said.

He stressed that there has been a disconnect between the leadership and the followers and this has given rise to all forms of rebellion, back stabling, infighting and utmost betrayal, hatred and the likes knowing fully well that the leader you hate cannot benefit you hence, the need to support Ijumu Unity Group to bridge the missing link that will galvanise our people into formidable team that will better the lots of the Ijumu.

“Our political leader are no longer being listen to, a case of the rotational system jettisoned, what could be responsible for this? We implore all hands to be on deck so that the goal and objectives of this group can be achieved.

He said the group is all encompassing to see to the improvement of the socio – economics and political developments of the area, noted that the situation in the country call for a concerted efforts such as this to ameliorate the suffering of the people.

While the chairman Board of Trustees, Dr ASP Arogundade who was represented by Barrister Femi Oloruntoba said the group is not new but only changes name from time to time, stressing that it is time for the people not to depend solely on politicians to achieve community developments.

He enjoined Ijumu people to rally round the group as it will serve as pressure group will be development driven in their quest to push for a better Ijumu.

Highlights of the event was the inauguration of the Board of Trustees and Executive members of the group by Barrister Emmanuel Mejabi in Iyara town hall.
