As preparations for the 2023 governorship elections ramp up, a Kogi-based group called Avoyi’s Team for Ododo has expressed support for Governor Yahaya Bello’s decision to choose Ododo as his successor.
In a statement to journalists following a meeting of the group’s executives in Lokoja earlier today, Hon. Avoyi Nwogu, the group’s convener, said they have complete faith in the governor’s decision.
“One of the reasons why we are here today is to express our full support for Ododo. We have confidence in the choice Governor Bello has made and we commend him for his wisdom and foresight in selecting Ododo to take over the reins of government when his term ends,” Nwogu said.
“Ododo is a man of the people who doesn’t seek public attention. He has the experience and vision needed for the job, having learned from the unparalleled leadership style of Governor Bello over the years as a key member of his cabinet.”
Nwogu pledged that the group would work tirelessly for Ododo’s victory in the upcoming elections, mobilizing their supporters across the state to ensure that he emerges as the next governor.
“We appeal to all sons and daughters of Kogi state to join hands with the governor to support Ododo, a leader who understands the plights of the people and would be able to entrench the good governance yearned by all and sundry,” she added.
Princess NanaHawa Yusuff, an executive of the group, also spoke, applauding Governor Bello’s political will, wisdom, and noble character, saying that he had consistently made deliberate decisions that would have long-lasting positive impacts on the lives of ordinary citizens.
She expressed optimism that Ododo, having been a part of the present government since its inception, would be able to offer plausible solutions to some of the challenges confronting the state if given the mandate.
Other Executive members also commended the election of Usman Ododo as the APC Governorship flag bearer.
