As part of the desires to engenders balancing in governance and entrench Equity, Fairness and Justice to prevail in Kogi State, a Socio-political group under the aegis of
Kogi western coalition of political parties has called upon All political Parties in the state to zone their Governorship Slots to the western Senatorial District.
The Coalition also appeal to the incumbent Governor of the state Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello who is said to be an ardent believer in practical and true equity, fairness and justice to consider the western Senatorial District in the next political dispensation using his party platform to achieve this lofty
desire of supporting the candidate from the western district as the next governor of the state.
The Coalition made the call at the end of it’s enlarge meeting yesterday in lokoja the state capital.
According to a press statement jointly signed by the Coalition Secretary; Hon. Ephraim Medupin and the PRO Hon. Garba Bako
“The position of the western coalition is categorically and unequivocally not based on any iota of the sentiments or parochial interest but just to herald equal distribution of leadership where Equity, Fairness andJustice is displayed. We further call on all political stakeholders in Kogi State to view this agitation in the angle of peaceful co-existence and even development.
The statement recall that
Since the dispensation of democratic governance in 1999, the first democratically elected Governor was His Excellency, Late Prince Abubakar Audu of blessed memory is from the Eastern senatorial district (1999-2003) thereafter, His Excellency Alhaji Ibrahim Idris (2003-2013) emerged as the 2nd democratically elected Governor, also from the Eastern Flank. Captain Idris Wada equally emerged after a democratically and fiercely contested election in (2013-2016). The above leadership sequence at a glance were led by our brothers from the Eastern senatorial district. The emergence of Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello was divinely orchestrated by political design because of the death of late Prince Abubakar Audu, the gubernatorial candidate of All Progressive Congress (APC) due to the inconclusiveness of the election by INEC. According to the Electoral law as amended in (2010) only the participant in the primary election has the mandate to inherit the votes of the party. Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello who came 2nd in the Primary election inherited the votes automatically and became the Executive my Governor of Kogi State from the Central Senatorial zone of the State in 2016. This was how the mantle of leadership was shifted from the Kogi East to Kogi Central by divine intervention.POSITION OF EQUITY, FAIRNESS & JUSTICE:
It stated that the coalition of political parties in Kogi State especially Kogi Western Chapter is aggrieved over the political dispensation and sharing of the leadership at the Governorship level in terms of fairness equity and balancing.
The Coalition statement therefore appeal that “As we are approaching the governorship Election of 2023, the Western chapter of the coalition is appealing to all political parties to zone their governorship slots to the western senatorial district for Equity, Fairness and Justice. The western coalition of political parties is also appealing to His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello, (the Executive Governor of Kogi State) who believes practically in true Equity, fairness and justice to consider the western senatorial district in the next political dispensation come 2023 in his party”
