Kogi East: Why Justice and Fairness Support Idah Federal Constituency

I am not from Idah Federal Constituency. I am from Dekina Federal Constituency. However, the National Assembly seat does not belong to one federal constituency alone; it belongs to all Igala and Bassa people of Kogi East. It is from this standpoint that I consider it necessary to make a sincere case for justice, fairness, and equity in favour of Idah Federal Constituency.

Kogi East stands at a defining moment in its political journey, where fairness, inclusion, and balanced representation must guide the next choice of leadership at the National Assembly. Beyond personalities and political affiliations, there is a strong moral and political argument that the next senator from Kogi East should emerge from Idah Federal Constituency.

The principle of political balance has always played an important role in sustaining unity and mutual trust within Kogi East. Over the years, different federal constituencies within the district have had opportunities to contribute to the leadership and representation of the zone at the Senate.

Ankpa Federal Constituency had its turn through Senator Aidoko, who served for two terms. Dekina Federal Constituency is also currently serving through Senator Echocho, who has spent eight years in the Senate. In the spirit of fairness and equitable political distribution, it is only natural and just that attention should now shift toward Idah Federal Constituency.

This argument is not driven by sentiment, sectional interest, or political bitterness. Rather, it is about preserving political harmony and strengthening the collective sense of belonging among all parts of Kogi East. Every component of the district deserves to feel carried along in the political arrangement of the zone. Anything short of this could create avoidable feelings of exclusion and imbalance.

The Senate is a serious national institution that requires competence, discipline, legislative capacity, and strategic thinking. Kogi East must continue to deepen its democratic culture by ensuring that representation reflects not only political strength, but also fairness and inclusion.

The case for Idah Federal Constituency is therefore both political and moral. It is about sustaining unity, promoting inclusiveness, and ensuring that every part of Kogi East has a stake in the leadership structure of the district. Political justice remains one of the strongest foundations for peace, cooperation, and stability in any democratic society.

At this critical moment, stakeholders, political actors, and the people of Kogi East must rise above narrow interests and embrace what best promotes collective progress. Leadership should not only reflect popularity or political influence, but also justice, balance, and fairness.

With Ankpa and Dekina Federal Constituencies having had their opportunities at the Senate, many people now believe that equity and political justice support the emergence of the next senator from Idah Federal Constituency.

The time has come for fairness, balance, and inclusive representation in Kogi East.
