Kogi East-West Pact For Tinubu: Karimi, Echocho Mobilise Dekina/Bassa Ahead of 2027

Kogi East-West Pact For Tinubu: Karimi, Echocho Mobilise Dekina/Bassa Ahead of 2027

In what political observers have described as a strategic East-West pact, Senators Sunday Steve Karimi and Jibril Isah Echocho, on Wednesday, mobilized the people of Dekina/Bassa Federal Constituency in Anyigba to consolidate support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The Dekina/Bassa Town Hall Meeting, convened by the Win With Tinubu (WWT) Project at the M & G Hotel, now New Man Hotel, along Anyigba-Itobe Road, drew a large gathering of political leaders, community representatives, women and youth groups, and stakeholders from across the federal constituency.

The meeting was designed as a platform for frank engagement on the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, federal interventions in Kogi State, grassroots mobilization and the imperative of unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The political significance of the gathering was underscored by the joint leadership of Senator Sunday Steve Karimi, representing Kogi West Senatorial District and Chairman, Win With Tinubu Kashima Project, and Senator Jibril Isah Echocho, representing Kogi East and Co-Convener of the WWT initiative. Senator Echocho was represented by Hon. Akpa J. Omale.

Setting the tone for the engagement, the Deputy Director, Media and Strategic Communications of WWT, Atokolo Onalo, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the achievements of the Tinubu administration at the national level and its specific impact in Kogi State. His data-driven review provided the factual basis for the call on citizens to objectively assess the administration’s performance.

The town hall featured strategic contributions from key stakeholders, including retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Abutu Yaro (Rtd), former Director-General of the National Productivity Centre, Dr. Kashim Akor, and Chief Sayo Dada, leader of the Yoruba Community in Dekina Local Government Area. Their participation highlighted the meeting’s deliberate emphasis on inclusive politics and inter-ethnic harmony.

In his keynote address, Senator Karimi invoked the historic political bond between President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the late Prince Abubakar Audu, former Governor of Kogi State, noting that the progressive alliance laid a solid foundation for what has become the enduring Audu-Faleke legacy in Kogi politics.

He commended Hon. James Abiodun Faleke for keeping that legacy alive through sustained engagement with Kogi East, empowerment initiatives and deliberate bridge-building between Kogi East and Kogi West.

According to Karimi, the interventions he has undertaken alongside Hon. Faleke in the name of President Tinubu are proof that impactful leadership must transcend senatorial boundaries and prioritize people over geography.

The Kogi West Senator also pointed to the significant increase in federal allocations to states and local governments under President Tinubu’s bold economic reforms, stressing that the ultimate measure of governance is how public resources improve the lives of ordinary Nigerians.

He urged the people of Dekina/Bassa to weigh the administration’s record on its merits and make informed political choices in 2027.

A key message at the town hall was the clarification of WWT’s mandate. Organizers stressed that Win With Tinubu was established to mobilize support for President Tinubu and deepen public understanding of the Renewed Hope Agenda, and not to create factions within the APC.

The meeting further emphasized the need for party cohesion, synergy among leaders, and aggressive grassroots engagement as the 2027 political calendar gathers momentum.

The Dekina/Bassa engagement is part of WWT’s statewide tour of Kogi State, aimed at creating open platforms for citizens to discuss government policies, ventilate expectations and strengthen participation in governance.

The event ended with a unanimous resolution and a renewed call for sustained political unity, continuous community engagement and constructive dialogue on the future of Kogi State and Nigeria.
