Kogi Council Election: CNNPF Describes Gov. Ododo as a “Chrislam” Leader

… Praise His Directives of Religious Pairing/Balance For Kogi Council Polls.
The Christian Northern Nigeria Political Forum (CNNPF) has commended Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State for his remarkable commitment to inclusiveness, describing him as the first Nigerian governor to demonstrate total religious balance in governance.
The Forum urges Christians to appreciate this bold initiative by participating actively in the electoral process and supporting this new, unifying style of leadership since the beginning of Nigeria’s democratic era.
CNNPF applauds Governor Ododo for his open-door style of administration and his unwavering dedication to fairness and inclusion. His leadership has challenged the long-standing pattern of “Muslim-Muslim” or “Christian-Christian” political pairings, setting a new standard that can serve as a model for all northern states and for Nigeria at large—especially in a secular nation as clearly defined by the constitution.
The Governor has directed all APC stakeholders to embrace an inclusive system free from religious bias as preparations for the upcoming local-government elections intensify.
In this system, each local government must present a chairman and vice-chairman from different religious backgrounds, with the vice-chairman mandated to be a Christian.
Observers have described this innovative structure as a “Chrislam” model—symbolic of the administration’s strong push for inter-religious harmony.
Ahead of the elections, CNNPF called on all Christians to participate fully in the voting process. By doing so, they will help promote justice, peace, and equitable representation in the political space.
The Forum reiterates its commitment to mobilising and educating Christians in Northern Nigeria to take active roles in politics, and to advocating for full inclusion of Christians in appointments and decision-making at all levels.
The leadership of CNNPF, led by Hon. Ibrahim Gabriel Itodo, also urges the Federal Government to adopt and support Governor Ododo’s exemplary model of total inclusiveness. According to CNNPF, implementing this approach nationwide—from the northern to the southern regions—would help reduce agitations and correct long-standing imbalances in governance in a secular country like Nigeria.
