Kogi Commissioner Bashiru Gegu Appreciates Maigari of Lokoja Over ‘Jarumin Lokoja’ Title

The Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu, has expressed appreciation to the Maigari of Lokoja, HRH Dr. Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, following the conferment of the traditional title of Jarumin Lokoja on him.

In a message released to Newsmen, the Commissioner described the honour as humbling and significant. He said, “I am most honoured and humbled. My sincere gratitude to HRH Dr. Ibrahim Gambo Kabir, Maigari of Lokoja, for conferring on me the title ‘Jarumin Lokoja’. I pledge to uphold the values of service, courage, and unity this title represents.”

Engr. Bashiru described the title as both an honour and a call to greater service, pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him by the traditional institution and the people of Lokoja.

The Commissioner has previously received several recognitions for his contributions to community service and humanitarian work. While he holds other chieftaincy and merit awards, he noted that the Jarumin Lokoja title from the Maigari stands out as a special icing on the cake, given its deep roots in the history and people of Lokoja.

Jarumin Lokoja translates to “Hero of Lokoja” and is conferred on individuals recognized for courage, dedication to public good, and commitment to the unity of the community.
