Kogi Code of Conduct Bureau Soon to Begin enlightenment programs 


 

 

 

Kogi State Director, Code of Conduct Bureau, Mr Sunday Peter says enlightenment programs about the activities of the Bureau would soon commence in the state.

Mr Peter who stated this in an interview with Newsmen in Lokoja said some of the activities of the Bureau were hampered by the industrial action embarked upon by the Judiciary as well as the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic.

According to him, the compliance level of political office holders in the state as well as career civil servants to the requirements of the Bureau is low warning that those who flaunt the law of the Bureau could face a lot of sactions.

His words, ” what is expected of every public officers is to declare your asset at the inception and completion of tenure of office. Some politicians are enlightened and had complied but so many are not aware”.

He emphasised that defaulters, when found guilty by the Code of Conduct Tribunal could face sanctions ranging from outright dismissal from office to imposition of fines as the case might be.

He added that the sactions which are weighty could not be reverted by the Perogative of Mercy.
