Kogi State Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria, has been commended for living up to expectations in the discharge of her duties.
The State Chief Judge, Justice Josiah Majebi, gave the commendation at the opening ceremony of the 2022 FIDA Week and Annual General Meeting at the Nigeria Bar Association House, Lokoja.
Justice Majebi said the State Chapter of FIDA deserves accolades from all quarters in view of their performances so far, calling on the Executives and all Members of the Body to sustain such efforts.
He pointed out that FIDA is winning the war of violence against women, girls and children in the State, noting that they have also been consistent at ensuring the rights and privileges of people are protected.
The Kogi State Chairman of FIDA, Ajuma Lilian Okolo, expressed happiness over the calibres of people that attended the event, describing such as a morale boost to Members of FIDA in the State.
Lilian assured the commitment of FIDA to standing in the gap and serving as a voice to women, children and the vulnerable in the Society.
She stressed that when the Association’s pulse improves, plans are on reach to reach out to people at the Grassroots with messages of their rights and privileges packaged in books, audio and graphic materials in various local languages to enable those who are not learned, get the messages right.
“We are planning to take the message to the grassroots and translates their rights to them in their local languages when the resources improves. More of our services, our doors are always open to them as well” She said.
In their goodwill messages, the Retired Chief Judge of Kogi State, Justice Henry Olusiyi, and Ibrahim Sanni Muhammed – Kogi State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, enjoined FIDA to keep up the good works they have been doing and assured of State Government’s continuous support to the Organisation at all times.
The Chairperson of Kogi NGO Network (KONGONET) Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina, and Representative of the State NAWOJ, Hajiya Rabi Jibo, both commended the Organisation’s efforts at advocating and standing in the gap for women, girls and children in the State.
They described FIDA as a voice to the Voiceless and promised continuous collaboration with the Body at all times.
Female Law students from the Salem University Lokoja and prospective Law students from Baptist High School, Lokoja, appreciated FIDA for their giving them the privilege to be part of the program, saying that the event has broaden their horizon and as well, served as an enlightenment to them.
