Kogi State Government has promised to ensure prompt payment of counterpart contributions to foreign organizations in agriculture for food sufficiency in the States.
Governor Yahaya Bello made the remarks when he received the nineth International Food Agriculture Development Mission from West and Central Africa led by Marietu Camara at Government House lokoja.
The Governor in a message by his Deputy, Edward Onoja said state the government would continue to adhere strictly in agriculture revolution through massive productions
He expressed satisfaction that the Kogi State Value Chain Development Programme in collaboration with the Federal Government would create necessary environment for food security.
Governor Bello called on the International Mission to include more local government areas to the existing ones to ensure that both young, men and women were engaged to added value to their livinghood .
Earlier, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr David Apeh enumerated that many achievements have been recorded under governor Yahaya Bello administration , adding that government has provided enough farm inputs to enable Youth and women engaged themselves in farming.
In her remark, the Leader of the team from West and Central Africa Mission, Marietu Camara said they were in the state to monitor how the fund were utilised and how women basically were empowered in both farming and processing to add value to their life.
In their separate remarks, the Representatives from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture ,Abuja Alhaji Garba .Balla and Kuse Peter expressed delight on the commitment of state governor in agricultural development and urged him not relent.
Also speaking , the Kogi State Co-ordinator for Value Chain Development Programme, Doctor Stella Adejoh commended the resilient and patriotism of the International Food Agriculture Development for engaging Youths and women to participate in farming for self sustainability.
Doctor Adejoh commended the Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello for his contributions to agricultural programme which she noted reduce poverty level in the rural community across the state.
Highlight was a visit to demonstration farms at Akpamoba and Ajaokuta where rice, cassava are cultivated as well as a new building for Milling and processing stores at Kungbani and Ajaokuta built by the kogi State Value Chain Development Programme.
