Kogi Assembly Urges Works Ministry to Strictly Monitor all Ongoing Projects


 

Kogi State House of Assembly has directed the State Ministry of Works and Housing to ensure proper monitoring of all ongoing projects across the State.

The Chairman, House Committee on Works and Housing, Hon. Olusola Kilani Olumo gave the directive Monday during an oversight visit to the Ministry in Lokoja.

Hon Olumo who expressed satisfaction with the level of work at the Ganaja Junction fly-over and rehabilitation of Nataco Junction-Paparanda Square road, called on the Ministry to monitor activities of contractors to void shuddy job.

He expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for providing sixty percent of tb project sum, describing it as a demonstration of Political will to provision of dividends of democracy to Kogi people.

Responding, the Permanent Secretary, Hajia Ramatu Baba said all ongoing projects in the three Senatorial Districts of the State are results of the “Let’s Do More” Mantra of Governor Yahaya Bello during his re-election campaign.

At the Ganaja Junction fly-over, the Committee Chairman charged the Contractor to work in line with specification and deliver it on or before the end of this year.

He commended the Contractor handling the project for a job well done and urged them to sustain the tempo.

The Resident Engineer of the Flyover, Engineer Akubo Alhasan assured that the project will be completed before the thirty first of December this year provided funds are made available.

Similarly, the Committee Chairman during a visit to the ongoing rehabilitation overlay of Nataco Junction-Paparanda Square road, urged the Contractor to finish the project on time in view of the importance of the road to the people.

Other members of the Committee who were present at the visit include, Alhaji Suleiman Attajachi of Idah, Hon. Moses Akande representing Ogori/Magongo Constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Usman of Adavi and Daniya Rayi of Bassa.
