Kogi Assembly is not under lock and key, disregard the mischievous fake news

Our attention has been drawn to a fake news going round especially on social media platforms where it was alleged that the Kogi State House of Assembly is under lock and key.

Dignifying the fake news with any response would not have been necessary but imperative to keep the unsuspected reading public abreast of the current situation of the Assembly under the leadership of Rt. Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole.

Amusingly, the rumor monger was obviously ignorant of the true position of things before he hurriedly went to town with his lies.
If not impaired by laziness resulting in not checking and confirming, the author should have known that the civil servants working in the Assembly are punctually in the office
during working hours performing
their duties without hitches.

With the release of the 2023 General Elections timetable and commencement of electioneering, all political parties in Nigeria are preparing for their party’s primaries majorly this month and all politicians are busy with their programs hence none of the lawmakers across the country are in session due to the elections program.

It is common knowledge that, Rt. Hon. Matthew Kolawole is a successful business man in the hospitality, entertainment and sports sectors before he ventured into politics in 2003 and contested for the first time in 2007 when he was persuaded to step down by the leader, late Arc. Stephen Olorunfemi.
He later re-contested in 2015 and won; that he was able to build a hotel in Lokoja should not be a ground for condemnation. He should rather be applauded for creating employment opportunities for people in the State. His decision to establish majority of his business ventures in Lokoja is worthy of commendation unlike some persons that invested their resources outside the State.

It is pertinent to categorically state that the Assembly under Matthew Kolawole is in safe hands, hence there is no cause for alarm as the Assembly is united as one big family.

The assembly maze is intact and it is where it supposed to be, hence we advised his political detractors to look for something else to do and allow him to do his work.

Femi Olugbemi,
Chief Press Secretary to the Honourable Speaker
