
Kogi @ 34 The Nigerian Post Lecture & Awards Now Holds Tuesday, 26th August 2025 @ NUT Teacher’s Guest House Conference Hall Lokoja.

This is to bring to the notice of the general public, our esteemed invited guests that the annual The Nigerian Post Newspaper Public Lecture & Gold Prize Award, an event yearly organized to mark and celebrate the anniversary of Kogi State creation will now hold on Tuesday, 26th August, 2025.
Recalled that as a mark of honor for our departed father and patriarch, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo, the father of our beloved Kogi State Executive Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, we had to postpone the program earlier scheduled for Tuesday, 19th August, 2025.
We regret the inconveniences caused by the postponement as it was beyond our control, but to honour a our father, Alhaji Ahmed Momoh Sani Ododo, a man widely acknowledged as a patriot, community leader and father of our amiable Governor, who’s sudden demise occurred on the eve of the earlier scheduled date.
We therefore wish to notify our invited guest and Members of the general public who had earlier been served letters and invites, that arrangement for the program has been concluded to hold 26th August, 2025 with the invitations still subsisting.
The theme for the Kogi @ 34 public lecture is: “Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity, Economic transformation: The Kogi State Example”.
Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, Kogi State Executive Governor and his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello have further indicated their participation at this year’s the Nigerian Post Newspaper annual public Lecture & Gold Prize Award. They will serve as Special Guest and Guest of Honors respectively.
This years event is scheduled to to still take place at the Teachers House, opposite Radio Kogi, Lokoja, August 26th August, 2025 at 10:00am.
The Minister for Steel Development, Prince Shaibu Audu Abubakar alongside other very important personalities within and outside Kogi State will also serve as Special Guests at the event.
The 2025 public lecture will be delivered by Prof. Stephen Ikani Ocheni, former Minister of State, Labour and Employment.
His Royal Majesty, the Ohimegye Igu Kingdom, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu would serve as the Royal father of the day.
Speakers at the event will include; Prof. Marietu Tenuche, Vice Chancellor, Prince Abubakar University, Anyigba and Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi, VC Federal University Lokoja.
The 2025 The Nigerian Post Newspaper Lecture is to be chaired and Co Chaired by Prof. Salisu Usman Ogbo, Rector, Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja with Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji.
In a statement signed and released by the Publisher of THE NIGERIAN POST, Mr. Abu Micheal, this year’s event will honour some distinguished personalities who have contributed to the development of the State.
The 2025 edition of the public lecture, “aims to celebrate and critically examine the creation of Kogi State 34 years after, discussing Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity in a democracy, the Kogi State example.
According to the statement, this year’s event will honour some distinguished personalities who have contributed to the development of the State.
“Our 2025 Awardees are persons who made the critical differences in the discharge of their duties, with uncommon zeal and commitment to the common good of the citizens and the State in particular,” the statement read.
