KOGI 2023: OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT TINUBU

Before 1999, Nigerian citizens suffered from the oppression of the military rule. The citizens dwelled in pain, agony, hunger and poverty to name a few.

The citizens were denied of their fundamental rights as a people. The return of power to citizens in 1999 brought succour, solace and hope for the people of Nigeria.

However, since the return of power to civilian government, the citizens of Kogi State have lived in the worst deteriorating situation.

Life have been so difficult as a result of reckless and maladministrative method of governance introduced by Yahaya Bello. Lives have been lost in the last seven years. The people have remained calm in the face of life threatening situations in order not to take laws into their hands, knowing that a time for them to exercise their rights and change the government through the ballots will come some day.

Mr. President, while using this opportunity to Congratulate you on your first fourteen (14) days in office, and as the country celebrates her Democracy Day today, I appeal on behalf of the indigenes of Kogi State, that you use your good office to help sound and send cautionary words to Governor Yahaya Bello to allow the people exercise their fundamental rights as Nigerian citizens.

Kogi State election comes up in November, 2023, It is too early to start intimidating and putting the people into fear.

Good enough, Gov. Yahaya Bello is not on the ballot paper for the November, 2023 Kogi State gubernatorial election, but Yahaya Bello was alleged to have blocked and shot at Hon. MURITALA YAKUBU AJAKA (the Social Democratic Party, SDP) gubernatorial candidate who was on his way to his hometown on Saturday, 3rd June, 2023. Though the State Government have refuted the SDP claim, pointing out that it was the SDP Governorship Candidate that attacked the Governor.

Governor Yahaya Bello, the APC and other contestants should be made to understand that Election is not war. Gov. Yahaya Bello should be advised to tell the people of Kogi State what his anointed candidate will do for the people when he comes to power and not intimidating other candidates and supporters.

This CAUTIONARY NOTE is time bound, because further frustration may generate political unrest and disorder in the state, which will not be pleasant at this early stage of your government at the Federal Level and which is unhealthy for the nation, as Kogi State is the only state that links the South South, South East and South West to the Nation’s capital.

It is my hope that this warning will be considered as a matter of urgent national importance for our peaceful coexistence, justice, political, economic development and prosperity.

Thank you Mr. President and may Allah grant you the wisdom, strength and support to deliver on your campaign promises and make Nigeria great again.
