In a bid to start the Biometric enrollment of the state civil servants for the Health Insurance plan in the state, Kogi State Health Insurance Agency has trained focal persons in each of the Ministries, Department and Agencies of Kogi state civil service.
The training was held on Thursday at the Conference Hall of Good Shepherd Hotel Lokoja.
In his key note address to the participants, the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledare stated that the health insurance plan for the civil servants is aimed at reducing out of pocket spending on health care and improve productivity of the civil servants in the state.
Dr. Aledare noted that the agency was established in 2019 through the proclamation of a law enacted by Kogi State House of Assembly and signed into law by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
The Executive Secretary noted that the law which established Kogi State Health Insurance Agency made it mandatory for Kogi State civil servants to be enrolled into the health care plan. He charged the focal persons to disseminate the information on the Biometric enrollment of the civil servants by the agency.
On her part the representative of the Head of service who doubles as the Permanent Secretary Establishment, Mrs Elizabeth Oloruntoba said the administration of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello has done his best in meeting the needs of Kogi State workers. She noted that the health insurance plan is for the benefit of Kogi State civil servants.
She called on the focal persons attending the training to pay attention to the resource persons and take back the messages to their various ministries, Departments and Agencies
The Board Chairman of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Pharm. Suberu Ariko applauded Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello for attending to some of the pressing needs of Kogi State civil servants like the cash backing of promotions, implementation of minimum wage adding that the governor is prepared to attend to the remaining needs of Kogi State civil servants.
Pharm. Ariko applauded the response of the focal persons in attending the training. He also charged them to sensitize the civil servants in their ministries, Departments and Agencies on the forth coming Biometric enrollment of civil servants.
Two of the participants, Mr Olutimehin Gbenga and Mrs Bolorunduro Ife who spoke to the information unit of the agency said the training was worthwhile. They assured that they will disseminate the necessary information on the forth coming Biometric enrollment of civil servants for the formal sector health care plan to their ministries, Departments and Agencies.
