KGSHIA Takes Bold Steps, Partners Community Pharmacists to Tackle Out-of-Stock Challenges

In a proactive move to address the persistent issue of drug stockouts in accredited health facilities providing services to enrollees of the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency (KGSHIA), the Agency engaged the community pharmacists in a strategic round table discussion . The initiative aims to establish a strong, result-oriented partnership that will ensure the availability of essential medicines and sustain the agency’s vision of providing quality and affordable healthcare services to residents of Kogi State.
During the meeting, held at the conference hall of KGSHIA in Lokoja, the Board Chairman of the agency, Pharm. Arikochonu Suberu, emphasized the need for collective agreement among stakeholders to achieve tangible results. He reiterated the agency’s unwavering commitment to ensuring enrollees receive optimal healthcare services and highlighted the urgency of resolving stockout issues to prevent disruptions in service delivery.
Meanwhile the Executive Secretary of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency, Dr Adekunle Aledare has debunked a report by an online Guardian claiming the Agency will flood health facilities in the state with drugs. For avoidance of doubt the supply of drugs to health facilities in the state is the sole responsibility of the state Drug Management Agency and not that of Kogi State Health Insurance Agency
Dr. Aledare however underscore the impact of the Agency in providing quality services to its enrollees noting that the meeting ended with a mutual understanding on both partners.
