Kabba: Mob Burn Down Police Barracks Aftermath Alledged Killing of Boy by Policeman Over Sachet Water


 

Following the alledged killing of an Okada boy by a policeman in Kabba town of Kogi State, angry mob are said to have set the old Police barracks ablaze.

There was a wide protest in Kabba town this morning over the alledged killing of the boy by a policeman.

As at time of press, a team of Mobile Policemen and men of the Nigerian Army have been deployed to Kabba town.

The situation has however been brought under control as calm has since return to the ancient town.

Unconfirmed report by an eyewitness account, said the boy was alledged to have taken a sachet of pure water from the Police patrol vehicle to drink after he finished eating, said he was familiar with the team of Policemen. An argument later ensured, leading to the killing.

But in a swift reaction, the Kogi State Commissioner of Police CP Egbuka who confirmed the incident said information from the area Commander of the Police in Kabba said the Policeman tried to defend himself promised to Investigate the matter.

The CP said until the outcome of the investigation he has ordered, from preliminary report he got, the said policeman only tried to defend himself from an attack.

The Commissioner of Police assurred that he will carry out an investigation to determine the cause of the killing, assurring that no stone would be left unturned in unraveling the cause and actual involvement of the incident.

The Mob according to a source, freed the wives of the policemen living in the barracks, before setting ablaze the barracks alongside other vehicles parked in the barracks.
