Kabba/Bunu LGA Chairman Seeks Stringent Security Measures For Hotels, Pledges Improved Security For Residents
The Executive Chairman of Kabba /Bunu Local Government Area, Hon (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael, on Monday said the local government will restrategise its security initiative to protect its citizenry.
The chairman, at its security briefing, called for the implementation of a standardized guest registration process that includes valid identification verification and the maintenance of up-to-date guest logs accessible to authorized personnel in hotels and guesthouses across the local government.
Zacchaeus noted that hotels are increasingly being used by criminals, commonly known as “Bandits,” who engage in kidnapping within our territories.
He also observed that a significant number of hotels and guesthouses in Kabba and across local government area do not have security surveillance gadgets, despite the rapid rising of security concerns in the local government.
Going forward, the chairman advised all hotels to have surveillance cameras, adding that the lack of adequate profiling of visitors makes it difficult for regulatory agencies to track operating establishments, enforce security standards, and ensure compliance with necessary regulations.
“Mandatory documentation and periodic checking on lodgers will enable the government to monitor stranger movements effectively and enforce security measures where needed,” the chairman stated.
Hon Zacchaeus Dare Michael has reiterated that his administration will continue to strengthen the security architecture of the local government to secure the lives and properties of residents.
He said the government remains ready to proactively combat security challenges.
“As a community, I want to urge us to say something when we see anything strange. In Kabba/Bunu LGA, we have decided to really confront insecurity head-on.
The Chairman urged hoteliers to cooperate with the government by providing useful information to the security agencies to tackle insecurity and other social vices in their establishments, adding that securing the local government is a responsibility for all.
He reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to providing necessary support to ensure the safety of lives and property in the region.
According to him, the government will collaborate with registered hospitality business owners, including hoteliers and security agencies, to rid the local government of criminality and banditry.

“Investigation has shown that some fraudsters deliberately reside in hotels for extended periods to operate undetected.”
“These criminals exploit the anonymity of hotels, where poor guest registration and monitoring system allow them to evade law enforcement.”
