Jubilation Greets Sen. Sunday Karimi’s Constituents, Commends His Release of Funds for Immediate Rehabilitation of Pakuta Bridge
The Constituents of Kogi West Senatorial District have expressed joy and appreciation to Sen. Sunday Karimi for his timely release of funds for the reconstruction of Pakuta Bridge in the road linking Aiyegunle Gbede in Ijumu Local Government to Kiri Kingdom in Kabba Bunu Local Government, Kupa North and South including Eggan communities in Lokoja Local Government.
Recalled that the Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Sunday Karimi has intervened in the reconstruction of the bridge
The people along this road said they will soon heave a big sigh of relief as the all important road linking the communities to Niger State will be motorable again.
This road hitherto awarded to a construction giant, Setraco Nig. Ltd. but was abandoned due to improper funding by the Federal Government has led to a total collapse of a vital bridge and has cut off the communities totally. The collapse of the road has negatively affected the people whose major source of livelihood is agriculture as commuting and transporting their agricultural produce has become a big challenge.
Professor Olu Obafemi, a renowned University Don and the Asiwaju of Kiri Kingdom confirmed that Distinguished Senator Sunday Karimi has graciously offered to take up the immediate reconstruction of the collapsed Pakuta Bridge, reason why the excitement.
The reconstruction which was valued by a group of Committee of Experts, Stakeholders and Community Representatives at a sum of Seventeen Million Naira (#17,000,000) had fund released by Senator Sunday Karimi for the immediate commencement of works.
Speaking on behalf of the Olukiri, the Chairman of the project Committee, Prof Olu Obafemi thanked Senator Sunday Karimi for this profound intervention.
He assured the Senator that the Committee is going to do all that is possible to properly manage and monitor the reconstruction.
Senator Sunday Karimi promised to use his office as the representative of the people to look into the real problem with the funding of the road as it was contained in the original agreement between the Federal Government and Setraco Nig. Ltd. in a bid to returning the Contractor to site for the completion of the road.
