By joshua JOINT SECURITY FORCES INTENSIFY RESCUE OPERATION IN DEKINA FORESTS OVER IDAH ABDUCTION
The Kogi State Police Command has said coordinated rescue and bush-combing operations are actively ongoing to secure the release of victims of the recent abduction along the Idah–Dekina axis.
In a follow-up response to press inquiries on Thursday, the Command confirmed that the joint operation commenced in the early hours of Thursday, 27 August 2026, and is being coordinated by ACP M. D. Adamu, Commanding Officer, 77 PMF Squadron, Okene.
According to the Command, personnel from the Police, Military, Department of State Services, and local hunters are currently deployed in the field. The teams are conducting intensive bush-combing and rescue operations across identified forest corridors around Anejukolo–Egume, Ipadala–Egume and Alade–Egume in Dekina Local Government Area. Surveillance has also been strengthened along major highways within the area.
The Command noted that the operational teams are presently on the field and have been given the necessary operational space to remain focused on the mission. As a result, official updates may be gradual while the operation is in progress.
“This should not be misconstrued as inactivity,” the statement read. “Concerted efforts are actively being sustained to achieve a breakthrough and secure the safe recovery of the victims.”
The Police Command assured that the joint operation will be sustained until the desired objective is achieved, and promised to communicate verified developments to the public as they become available.
