As the world marks the International Youth Day, Kogi Youths have been urged to improve on political participation and key into opportunities provided by government agricultural intervention programs to drive entrepreneurship amongst them.
This was contained in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday by the special adviser to Kogi State Governor on Special Projects, Honourable Abdulkareem Onyekehi Suleiman in Lokoja.
Onyekehi, while praising Kogi Youth for their exceptional conducts amidst the growing insecurity and criminalty across the country in recent times also acknowledged the outstanding role of Kogi Youth in political participation, youthful activism and other positive strives that have kept Kogi State relatively peaceful and orderly.
He, however, noted that the youth needed to key into the theme of the 2021 International Youth Day which centers around Transforming Food System: Youth Innovation for Human and Planetary Health.
Hon. Onyekehi who also doubles as the focal person of Kogi State Social Investment Programme reminded the youth that while lack of funding is usually blamed for low participation of the younger people in Agricultural Investment, the Muhammad Buhari led administration has provided several intervention Programs for the youth to access and embark on agribusiness.
“The APC led administration of President Buhari has an unmatched record of the highest Social Investment Programme administered through various Ministries and agencies at both federal and state government levels to support women and youth in their businesses.
“Agriculture enjoys the highest focus of this administration with numerous intervention funds designed to ease access to funding for youth intending to invest in any type of agribusiness. In consonance with the theme of this year’s celebration of International Youth Day, I want to urge our able youth to key into these opportunities and embark on a journey to financial freedom”.
The special adviser used the medium to announce an upcoming funding opportunity for the youth and the rest of Kogi citizens which he said would be the second phase of the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Program (GEEP 2.0) due to take off in few days across the country.
