INTERNATIONAL GIRLS IN-ICT-DAY KOGI, 2021.


 

The IbI foundation in collaboration with Heritage & Legacy Foundation and Cal-Maji Foundation commemorates this year’s #GirlsInICT 2021in kogi state.
The event which is an annual celebration since 2016 anchored by IBI centre and Heritage and Legacy Foundation has hosted more than 820 girls in Secondary schools across the different States in Nigeria.

 

For this year’s event, Heritage & Legacy Foundation led the Kogi chapter with key partner Cal-Maji Foundation alongside other state actors like Yali Kogi, Bridge Inspire Foundation, YAFTA, Digitrybe.
Event was held at Mentor box with over 50 girls present, drawn from different schools at the state’s capital.

Distinguished speakers and panellists we invited to address topics on opportunities in the ICT sector, professional development, education, and mentorship for the girls .

Part of the event this year invloves a virtual session that showcase the event activities, practical session that took place across the captured states.

The overall aims of this event was to increase awareness and invoke a passion for ICT in the girl’s child. This will increase the number of girls that participated in the ICT sector, create more empowerment opportunities for girls, and help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals no. 5 (SDG5), which is to achieve greater workforce diversity and gender equality in ICT.
