INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL ADVERTISEMENT FOR PRINCIPAL OFFICERS – REGISTRAR, BURSAR , LIBRARIAN AND DIRECTOR OF WORKS OF NIGERIA-KOREA FRIENDSHIP INSTITUTE (NKFI)


 

His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kogi State has granted the approval to invite applications from suitably qualified candidate(s) to fill the vacant positions of REGISTRAR, BURSAR , LIBRARIAN AND DIRECTOR OF WORKS in the Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute of Vocational and Advanced Technology (NKFI).

 

 

THE INSTITUTE
The Nigeria Korea Friendship Institute Lokoja was established by the Kogi State government in collaboration with the Korea Republic Government in July 2009. The Institute presently has its campus located inside Kogi State Polytechnic, main campus along Felele road Lokoja – Okene Road.
The Institutes’ vision is to be a top-class technical and vocational Institute in Nigeria and Africa, that is focused on educating vocational competence and providing industry-specific employable skills to serve as an economic development catalyst for Nigeria and Africa.
The institute is providing capacity building programs for sustainable development through its curriculum, while contributing to economic empowerment of individual by increasing their employability. Above all, the Institute has been a link between education, science, technology, innovation and the labour market.

THE REGISTRAR
The Registrar is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Institute and shall be responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration of the Institute except as regards to financial matters for which the Bursar is responsible. The Registrar is also the Secretary to the Council, Congregation, Matriculation and Convocation. Candidate(s) for the post shall be visionary and have the ability to provide good leadership; possess personal integrity and must not be more than Sixty (60) years of age at the time of appointment. The appointment is for a period of Four (4) years.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant should be an excellent manager of human resources and a team player, must be physically and mentally fit, and in addition satisfy the following criteria:
(i) must possess a good honours Degree from a recognized University, possession of higher Degree(s) is an added advantage;
(ii) must have minimum of fifteen (15) unbroken years cognate experience in University, Polytechnic Administration or twenty (20) years of other Institutions of higher learning;
(iii) must have attained the rank of Deputy Registrar and served for not less than five years as Deputy Registrar and have demonstrable competence in ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc (ICT) for efficient and effective job performance;
(v) be a member of relevant professional bodies e.g. NIM, IPMN, ANUPA, CIA, AMN;
(vi) must have a good working knowledge of current administrative principles, practices and processes.

THE BURSAR
The Bursar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Financial Officer of the Institute, who
is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the Institute. The Bursar shall hold office for a period of four (4) years from the effective date of his/her appointment and on such terms and conditions as may be specified in the letter of appointment.

The candidate must have exhibited in the past, considerable ability, competence, industry and integrity. He or she must be proactive, visionary and capable of efficient and effective management of a coordinated system of a decentralized Bursary. He/she must fully understand the complexity of the tertiary institution system and must possess good human relations.

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The applicant must possess a university honours degree in Accountancy from a recognized university and at least twenty (20) years relevant experience preferably in a tertiary institution accounting system or that of
comparable institutions.

The candidate must have spent at least eight (4) years at senior management level and not lower than that of a Deputy Bursar in a Higher Institution.
Adequate knowledge of computer applications and membership of a recognized professional accounting body such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, ACMA, ANAN etc are compulsory. In addition, he/she shall not be older than 60 years of age from the date of appointment.

THE LIBRARIAN
The librarian is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration and control of the library of the Institute The candidate for the Institute’s Librarian position must possess good honours degree(s) in any discipline, a Masters degree in Library Information Studies from recognized universities. In addition to the academic/professional qualifications, a candidate must possess evidence of membership of library professional bodies and registration with the Librarian Registration Council of Nigeria (LRCN), which is the regulatory agency for the practice of librarianship in Nigeria.
Of equal importance is that the candidate must possess sufficient evidence of continual scholarship and contribution to knowledge through publication in reputable peer reviewed outlets both within and outside the country.
Above all, the candidate must possess good managerial skills and competences including a clear understanding of the nature, dynamics and the intricacies in deploying information technologies as tools for the management of information collections in line with global best practices in contemporary institutions libraries.
QUALIFICATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
The prospective candidate must have put a minimum of fifteen (15) years of cognate work experience into tertiary institution’s library(ies). Ten (10) of these years must have been at library management position. Candidates occupying a position lower than that of a Deputy University Librarian need not apply. Furthermore, the candidate should not be more than 60 years old by the date of possible assumption of office.
The successful candidate shall hold the office for a period of four (4) years.

DIRECTOR OF WORKS
The Director, Works & Engineering Services must be a person of high integrity who demonstrates transparency in public service. He/She must be receptive to new ideas and willing to translate them into action in-line with the Vision and Mission of the Institute.
The Director of Works and Engineering Services is responsible to the Rector and heads the Directorate of Works & Engineering Services, coordinates, supervised and ensure/maintain the physical development, transportation, general maintenance services and project of the Polytechnic in such a way as to ensure quality and standard.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
Interested Candidate must possess the good honours Degree in any of either Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University. Possession of Masters Degree / Ph.D will be an added advantage. Membership and registration with NSE and COREN. Minimum of 15 years cognate experience in a Tertiary Institution. A good knowledge of Computer Applications.
