INSECURITY: Edo State Will Be Safest In Nigeria says Umakhihe

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe on Monday said if elected as the party’s candidate, the state would be the safest place to live and do business in the country, devoid of killings and other crimes and criminality.

He said he would tackle insecurity ravaging the state and ensure that women and youths return to their farms and go about their legitimate businesses without fear of criminals taking them hostage.

Umakhihe who spoke separately during a visit to APC delegates in Okada, the Ovia North East headquarters, and Iguobazuwa , headquarters of Ovia South West Local Government as well as Uselu in Egor Local Government Councils pledged to reduce the sufferings of the people in the state.

He said he has been tested and trusted in government when he served as Federal Permanent Secretary and would replicate same if given the mandate to govern the state.

He called on the leadership of the party at the various LGAs and delegates to suport him ahead of the party’s primary to take the state to higher height stressing that he has contributed meaningfully to the development of the three senatorial districts through his several empowerment
projects.

Umakhihe said Agriculture would receive a boost in the state, and promised to drive economic growth in all sectors of the state , if given the opportunity to provide leadership as Governor of Edo State.

“On insecurity troubling us in Edo, I will ensure everybody both young and old return to their farms and houses. And importantly, you can sleep with your two eyes closed without any fear of you being killed by criminals. I promise this and more.

“I have done alot across the three senatorial districts to impact the lives of Edo people. I know Ovia very well because I worked for 23 years serving in NIFOR in your locality.

“I want to assure you that alot of projects I attracted to Edo State are verifiable . I gave so much to our people without being a politician. Now, if you give me your support to be governor, I will do more than you can imagine.” Umakhihe said.

Receiving the governorship hopeful in Ovia North East, a chieftain of the APC and former Commissioner, Edo State Oil and Gas Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOGPADEC), Vincent Uwadiae, thanked him for coming to the biggest local government council in the state, which boast of 13 wards and pledged the peoples support for his guber ambition.
