
INEC rejects Leke Abejide’s ADC faction, says Maiyeki’s EXCO not recognized

The Independent National Electoral Commission has rejected ‘the newly expanded ‘ kogi state executive members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC ) recently put in place by Leke Abejide, member representing Yagba federal constituency saying the composition did not follow due process.
It will be recalled that last Saturday a Stakeholders’ meeting was held in lokoja led by ADC factional leader, Leke Joseph Abejide, Member representing Yagba Federal Constituency where ‘an expanded state EXCO members’ were elected and ratified.
The election produced one Sunday Maiyaki to replace Kingsley Temitope Ogah who is the state chairman and one Mamman Apena who is the secretary of the crisis ridden party , among others.
After the election, the names of the ‘ expanded members’ were taken in a letter to the state headquarters of INEC for recognition.
But INEC in a letter dated 25 Nov 2025 and signed by one Dahiru Halmisu Usman , the acting Administrative secretary of the commission ,rejected the ‘newly expanded state EXCO’ and said the list ought to come from the national leadership of the party to INEC headquarters and not from a group that is not recognized .
The INEC letter reads in part: “We write to acknowledge the receipt of your letter and the attachment of the above subject matter and wish to equally state as follows;
“The letter as a matter of standard procedure guilding our operations, ought to have emanated from your National Party Secretariat to INEC headquarters, Abuja;
“We are obliged to honour only communications that follow this procedure and are so conveyed to us through our headquarters for appreciate action(s);
“Consequently, we wish to let you know that you have to comply with this procedure for any communication to be treated deservedly ” the letter added.
Political watchers say with this development, Kingsley Temitope Ogah executives is still the widely recognized executive both at the national leadership of the party and that of INEC
