The Independent National Electoral Commission has presented the Certificate of Return to the Anambra State Governor-elect, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for winning the Anambra State governorship election which took place on November 6, 2021.
INEC presented the certificate in Awka, the Anambra State capital on Friday.
Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), polled 112,229 votes and won majority of votes cast in 19 out of the 21 local government areas of the state to defeat his closest opponent, Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got 53,807 votes.
Senator Andy Uba, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress came third with 43,285 votes, while the candidate of the Young Progressives Party, Senator Ifeanyi Uba came fourth having garnered 21,261 votes.
Soludo, the former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, was actively supported by out-going Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano.
Soludo after after receiving the certificate thanked the people of Anambra State for the electing him their governor.
He said, “I have just received my certificate of return from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).”
“Thank you Ndị Anambra for the overwhelming support. This divine mandate shall be deployed for the good of the Anambra public and humanity at large”
