The Honourable Commissioner of Finance,Budget and Economic planning, who doubles as a party stalwart in APC has called upon all eligible voters; without voters card, missing card or just assumed the voting age of 18 after last registration, to take full advantage of the ongoing Continous Voters Registration(CVR) as conducted by the Independent National Electoral commission(INEC).
Asiwaju said the registration has become very necessary for those not registered yet, because its the only constitutional power to exercise their franchise vis-a-vis elect leaders of their choice. He said, the power of the ballot using the voters card remain the most lawful, peaceful and globally acceptable path to a change of leadership in an organisation, state and Nation under a democratic dispensation.
He notes that the process of registration has been further made easy by the electoral umpire through provision of both online and offline registration platforms, saying anyone regardless of location and distance can get registered to their preferred voting point without wasting any travel time. With this development, inclusiveness has been enlarged and voters apathy reduced drastically.
The Honourable Commissioner called on Kogites of all shades, especially the youths and women to come out in their large numbers for the registration, states that the resonating calls for inclusion in governance process, gender equality and demand for leadership seat in the polity can only be consummated through the ballot and it starts from being a registered voter. The reoccurring demand for Youth leadership across board in our democratic system will only be made possible, if as youths will get registered in our numbers and also take an active and defining role in the electoral process, Asiwaju stated.
In his words, ” A New Nigeria is absolutely possible and it starts from getting our electoral process right; starting from the registration as eligible voters, taking up membership of a progressive political party, mobilize youths alike for leadership change and coming out enmass to vote at the ballot for a preferred choice. Its that simple but requires commitment and zeal to get results”.
