INEC Chairman: Engr. Bashiru Gegu Felicitates Prof Joash Amupitan, SAN
The Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu, has sent a message of felicitations to Prof Joash Amupitan, SAN, on the approval given to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu by the National Council of State to appoint him as the nations INEC Chairman.
Engr. Bashiru expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment of Prof Joash Amupitan, SAN, as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), described his nomination to well deserved.
Amupitan, incumbent Deputy Vice-Chancellor in-charge of Administration at the University of Jos, Plateau State, was nominated by the President and proposed to the National Council of State, (NCS). He received the unanimous concurrence of the body to have Amupitan replace Prof Mahmood Yakubu who was in office for one full decade.
Engr. Bashiru described Amupitan as one of Nigeria’s finest scholars, most rigorous legal inquisitors, experienced administrators and non-partisan patriots.
Engr. Bashiru described the appointment of an intellectual of astounding repute, a man of distinction and integrity for the choice of a helmsman for the nation’s electoral ombudsman as apt, said it could not have come at a better time than now.”
He described Amupitan as a pan-Nigerian to the core, expressed appreciation for the trust and confidence reposed in Prof Amupitan.
He assured that his sterling antecedents will stand him in good stead to be the very best head of a national electoral outfit Nigeria ever knew.
