IBAJI WINDSTORM DISASTER: KOSEMA BOSS LEADS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM TO ASSESS LEVEL OF DAMAGE
The Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA), has conducted an on-the-spot assessment of communities affected by recent windstorm disaster in Ibaji Local Government Area.
Leading the team, Alh Mouktar Atimah, the Executive Secretary Kogi State Emergency Management Agency (KOSEMA) said the assessment aimed to determine the extent of damage and gather data to guide emergency response efforts and ensure that the appropriate authorities get firsthand information about the current situattion of the affected communities.
The assessment visit revealed that over 600 houses were destroyed and properties worth over N100 million were damaged. During the visit, KOSEMA BOSS used the platform to sensitise the affected communities to imbibe the culture of tree planting.
According to the Executive Secretary KOSEMA “We are here to see things for State Government Administration led by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo will collaborate with Federal Government through National Emergency Management Agency to provide relief materials and mitigate the impacts of the windstorm.
The affected communities expressed gratitude for the visit, appreciating the agency’s efforts for the assessment, and also appealed for timely interventions.
The KOSEMA’S visit demonstrates the Agency’s commitment to responding to emergencies and supporting victims of disasters in the State.
