I will not allow criminals run amok in Kogi – Gov. Yahaya Bello


 

Gov. Yahaya Bello has for the umpteenth time restated his administration’s commitment not to allow criminals run uncontrollably in Kogi State.

 

The Kogi State Governor made the disclosure when he received in audience the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, who is in the State to Commission and to inaugurate some projects executed by the Nigeria Police.

 

Gov. Bello explained that prior to his administration, the State was the headquarters for kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, Bank Robbery, farmers herders crisis and other criminal activities, with people living in fear of terrorism, intra and inter communal clashes, expressed fulfilment that his administration has made the State uncomfortable for criminal elements.

 

Gov. Bello explained that over the last seven years of his administration, he has done the best it could with the promise to continue to do more in the area of security, disclosed that he has provided over 200 vehicles, several motorcycles, other tactical equipments, as well as ensured regular maintenance and logistics support to security agencies, a feat that has made the state safe and secure, making criminals lose considerable ground.

Gov. Bello expressed satisfaction with the rating of the State as the most second peaceful State, with lowest with crime index in the country, assured of providing security agencies with the needed working tools that would motivate them to do more.

The Governor reiterated the iron cast resolve of his administration, working with professionalism and the help of other sister security agencies, sustain the peace in Kogi by sustaining it’s most peaceful rating in Nigeria.

While pointing out that the strategic location of the State places high premium on its to be secured at all times, disclosed that if Kogi is over run by criminals, it would negatively impact on security in the North and Southern parts of the country, described Kogi State as central to peace of Nigeria as a whole.

While pointing out that the present administration has invested more in nipping insecurity to the baerest minimum, said unlike the Kogi of 2015, his administration is not taking lightly on politicians who act inimical to activities that would lead to insecurity.

He expressed his administration’s readiness to continue to give support to dedicated security agencies and officers working in the State, warned that he will deal with peddlers of insecurity, commended the joint efforts of security agencies in making the State safe.

Through operation total freedom, partnership with Kogi State vigilantee Service, and sharing of intelligence, the present administration he pointed out is able to tackle insecurity headlong through synergy.

Through the activities of brave men men in uniform, Gov. Bello maintained that his administration has been rewarded with several awards on security architecture and as the most secured State, with the recent distinguished award for security Management Presented by President Mohammadu Buhari, as an indication of his administration’s commitment to security.

Gov. Bello dedicated all the awards earned by his administration on security to all serving and retired security Agencies and there officers who worked in the State, said there will be no room for complacency, pointing out that criminals are always probing the State security architecture, with the presence of terrorist cells still identified, maintained that the State will not lose focus in the fight against security.

In his remarks, the Inspector General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, appreciated the
support by Gov. Yahaya Bello for security Agency’s, particularly to the Nigeria Police, expressed appreciation with the achievements in security of the Kogi State Governor.

Despite upsurge, Kogi State, the Inspector General of Police disclosed remains a relative oasis of peace and tranquility, said Kogi State has a declined record in crime, compared to other state’s in the country, attributed the feat to Gov. Bello’s proactiveness.
