I came, saw, I’m leaving Kogi State Better Than I Met It – Gov. Bello

 

Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State says he came, saw and would be leaving the State better than he met it.

This is as the Rector of the State Polythecnic, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo said Gov. Bello has been conferred with a fellowship of the Polytechnic for his improvement in infrastructure and in human capital development.

Others who bagged fellowship of the institution include: Alh. Ozi Salami for sinking several boreholes and for granting scholarship to several students of the Polytechnic.

Similarly, Barr. Umoru Jimoh of IHS, Prof. Idris M. Bugaji of NBTE and Barr. Moses Azubuike Okafor were also conferred with Fellowship of the institution.

Speaking at the Combined Convocation Ceremony for 2013/2014-2022/2023 set of the State Polythecnic, Lokoja, Gov. Bello said part of his achievements is evidence in the repositioning of the State Polythecnic, Lokoja, said he came, saw and would be leaving the Polythecnic better than he met it.

” My achievements can be attested where the State Polytechnic was before my assumption of office, where it is now and what we have repositioned it for the future”.

” We have taken time to look into the education Sector of our people. We made education a top priority in our thematic agenda”.

” We not only improved on the infrastructure and learning in our tertiary institutions, but also expanded our educational institution so that our children will not travel far to seek for knowledge within four years of our second term administration”.

Gov. Bello Bello appreciated the people of Kogi State for his modest contribution by resoundly voting for Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo as his successor, assured that he will build and take the achievements made by his administration to the next level.

Gov. Bello thanked the Chairman of the Governing Council, Staff, Students of the Polytechnic for the cooperation his administration enjoyed.

The Governor paid glowing tributes to the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo, said his outstanding achievements has made the State Polythecnic now an institution of envy, described the State Polythecnic as worthy of emulation across the world.

” To the Rector, Gov. Bello said, ” I’m proud of you. I’m indeed very proud of you. I will forever be proud of you”, commended TETFUND and other donor and financial agencies for their contributions to the repositioning of the State Polythecnic.

In his remarks, the Rector, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo, congratulate Alhaji Usman Ododo for emerging victorious at the polls, said his emergence is for the unity and development of the State.

He described his appointment by Gov Bello as an uncommon privilege, thanked Gov. Bello for finding him worthy to serve.

The Rector said he was able to using his three points agenda of Reform, Restore and Repair, returned the lost glory of the Polytechnic to one of envy.

The Polythecnic Dr. Ogbo said now pride’s itself as an institution committed to graduating students who are employers of labour in the country.

Prof. Yakubu Isa, Chairman Governing Council said council in his remarks, said the Polytechnic will continue to prioritize academic and personal development of students, promised that the Polytechnic will strive to provide the needed tools and resources for students to continue to succeed.

The Governing Council Chairman praised the State Government and the Tertiary Education Trust Funds for the iconic infrastructure development that has been witnessed in the institution under the administration of Gov Yahaya Bello.

249 graduands of the Polytechnic bagged Distinction at the 4th combined convocation of the State Polythecnic.

145 students graduated with distinctions at the ND level while 104 with distinctions are at the HND level.

 

 

In all, the Polytechnic graduated 7653 at the ND while
4427 graduated at the HND level at the combined convocation of the Polytechnic.

The 4th combined convocation is for the 2013/2014, 2014/2015
2015/2016
2016/2017
2017/2018
2018/2019
2019/2020
2020/2021
2021/2022
2022/2023 academic sessions of the institution.
