Members of the Kogi State Sports Council today 5th of November 2020, at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, received members of the Marasata Soccer Academy who have concluded plans to collaborate with Kogi State Government in a bid to scout for talented soccer players from Kogi State.
The Chairman of Kogi Sports Council Honorable Abdulmalik Isa alias Dolly who on behalf of the State Government received the team, appreciates them for finding Kogi State as one of the states to enjoy this hunting opportunity for skilful soccer players. He also pledged total cooperation with the Team in ensuring that the scouting turns out a huge success.
He reiterated that the Kogi State governor His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Bello as a lover of sporting activities will always give his absolute support in any activity that will boost sports in the State.
Coach Yisa Sofoluwe, the Head, Coaching Crew of Marasata Soccer Academy while speaking on behalf of the team, said the screening exercise would serve as an avenue to further discover young and talented youth soccer players in Kogi State. Sofoluwe an Ex- Super Eagles player is also doubles as one of the screening coaches.
Also Speaking, Coach Martins Asata, Founder and Chief Operating Coach of Marasata Soccer Academy said the academy has helped many players including Kogi Youth Soccer players travelled to U.S.A and Switzerland to exhibit their skills and were later signed by foreign football academy, while some got scholarship award, coach Sofoluwe revealed.
The screening exercise which commenced today at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, will continue tomorrow and end on the 7th of November, 2020.
The Soccer Trials includes;
(A) Professional Soccer Trials to play in Europe
Age Group 16-24 Years
(B) Trials to undertake U.S.A trip for scholarship Award (Participate in School Soccer Tournament)
Age Group 15- 19 Years.
