Nigeria/Russia Parliamentary Group Chairman and Lokoja/Kogi Reps Member, Hon. Shaba Ibrahim MHR; has on Friday commenced free antenatal care and medical outreach across the 21 wards of the Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency of Kogi State.
Hon. Yakubu Chado, Senior Legislative Aide to the lawmaker, represented the federal lawmaker during the launching of the programme. Speaking at the programme launch, Hon. Chado emphasized on how the health and wellness of constituents have always been dear to the heart of Hon. Shaba Ibrahim.
“This is part of Hon. Shaba Ibrahim’s key agenda for healthcare delivery. If you could recall, about this same time last year, we had similar programme held here in Lokoja Local Government and Kogi Local Government; where we treated people, did surgeries and also attended to people who have eye problems in both Local Governments. He has taken healthcare as one of the way of reaching out to people particularly those from the rural areas who find it difficult to access medical care, and this time around we are focusing majorly on pregnant women, that is, those that are supposed to get antenatal care but are unable maybe due to distance factor or affordability.
“He has decided to make available to those such persons in various locations, drugs that will help in the antenatal care, and that is why we have picked from each of the 21 wards of the federal constituency, the healthcare centres in the various wards, to come and carry the drugs and give it to the pregnant women in need of them,” Hon. Chado said.
Furthermore, he noted that the programme is to impact on hundreds and thousands of constituents in need of antenatal care and drugs.
The programme launch was well attended by constituents and would-be beneficiaries from both Lokoja and Kogi Local Governments.
The beneficiaries who could not hold back their joy and appreciation, thanked Hon. Shaba Ibrahim for such initiative. They prayed God to continue to bless the lawmaker and endue him with more strength and zeal to continue his good works for the constituency.
