Hon. Karimi to Officially flagoff Palliatives on Kabba – Ejiba Road Tomorrow


 

Says I’m not in competition with Hon. Leke Abejide.

Hon. Sunday Karimi, former House of Representatives Member, in conjunction with Government Officials from Yagba Federal Constituency will be flagging off Operation Fix Kabba – Ejiba Road, a Palliative Project to make our road motorable.

 

The flag off which will be flagged off tomorrow, Friday 5th November, 2021 by 4pm at Ejiba, Yagba West Local Government Area, was contained in a statement issued by Hon. Kingsley Fanwo.

 

Speaking with the Nigerianpost, the former Lawmaker says he make bold to say that he is not in away competing with Hon Abejide who after noticing his efforts to fix the road is coming up with promises and rhetorics.

According to the two time Lawmaker, the construction work on the road has since began at federal road Egbe end of the road five weeks ago, insisting that his maintenance team moved to Oyi area of Ejiba on Tuesday and commenced work yesterday, Wednesday.

According to the former Federal Lawmaker, ” We need not be deceived by empty promises, pointing out that every experience legislator knows that the problem associated with execution of road maintenance contract in the country had to do with funds availability.

Hon. Karimi, disclosed that demand on fixing roads in the country is more than supply, pointing out that the maximum that can be gotten in a year on road maintenance is not more than N5 billion from annual budget.

Hon. Karimi disclosed that the recent intervention of NNPC and Sukuk in road funding was to make up for lack of funds, wondered why the Present House of Representatives Member Representing Yagba Federal Constituency will have to wait for his pronouncement on palliative measures before this rhetorics on plans and promises to fix the road.

Hon. Karimi posted pictures of progress of work on site and ongoing activities on the road as a result of his intervention to justify that works has already begun, said what will happen tomorrow is only an official flag off.

Hon. Karimi said in early 2020 Hon. Leke Abejide told the people that he did not participate in 2019 budget approval hence not much was provided for that road in 2019 appropriation lamented that having being part of 2020 and 2021 budget appropriation what did he get into the budget for the road maintenance said the people are waiting to see what he will do in 2022 with the appropriation that is ongoing, said we are waiting.

Hon. Karimi opined that even with Sen. Bukola Saraki’s interest for four years as Senate President on Kabba – Ilorin road, said he was unable to move it forward urged for the need to be strategic and not just rhetorics.

The former Lawmaker described as a costly error missing out of NNPC recent intervention said that what will be the main thing in roads sector for now is to provide palliative for the road to be motorable.
