Hon. Haruna Ganaja Continues Massive Voter Registration Sensitization in Ajaokuta Ahead of 2027

The APC Chairmanship Candidate for Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Hon. Haruna Mohammed Ganaja, has commenced a massive advocacy and sensitization campaign across the 14 wards of the LGA, urging residents to come out en masse and register to vote ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Popularly known as the People’s Messenger, Hon. Ganaja said the initiative is driven by the need to ensure that every eligible resident of Ajaokuta has the opportunity to participate in choosing their leaders and shaping the future of the community. He noted that voter registration is not just a civic duty but the very foundation upon which democracy stands.

Speaking during community engagements in Ganaja Ward and other parts of the LGA, he stressed that the Permanent Voter’s Card is the power every citizen holds to determine who governs them at the local, state and federal levels. According to him, when people register and vote, they make informed choices, elect leaders with the capacity to deliver, and ensure that their voices are heard in the corridors of government. He added that areas with high voter turnout usually attract more attention in terms of projects, resources and representation, and Ajaokuta must not be left behind.

Hon. Ganaja explained that local government elections in particular are critical because they determine who manages the schools, primary healthcare centers, roads and markets that directly affect the daily lives of the people. He urged youths, women and first-time voters to take the exercise seriously, saying that staying away from the process only means allowing others to decide the future of Ajaokuta on their behalf.

The sensitization drive has seen the campaign team moving from markets to schools, youth groups, women associations and traditional institutions to educate residents on the importance of the Continuous Voter Registration exercise, the requirements, and where to register. Party stakeholders and community leaders have joined the effort, going door-to-door to mobilize residents and ensure no one is left out.

Hon. Ganaja, who before now serves as Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Harmonization and Integration, said his experience in government has taught him that development follows participation. He called on traditional rulers and community heads to lend their voices to the campaign, noting that a strong voters’ register for Ajaokuta will strengthen the LGA’s bargaining power and attract more dividends of democracy.

He emphasized that the campaign is not about party alone but about the collective interest of Ajaokuta. “This is about us as a people. Whether you are APC, PDP, or not in any party, register so that your voice will count in 2027. That is how we build a stronger Ajaokuta together,” he said.

The APC chairmanship candidate assured residents that his commitment to grassroots development, youth empowerment and inclusive governance remains firm, and that an active and engaged electorate is key to achieving those goals. He expressed confidence that with massive registration and participation, Ajaokuta will produce leaders who can attract projects, defend the interests of the people and deliver real results.

The advocacy and sensitization campaign will continue across all communities in Ajaokuta LGA in the coming weeks ahead of both the October Council election and the 2027 general elections.
