Greenplinth Africa to plant 300million innovative trees, to deploy 8 million clean cook stoves in Lagos

Chief Marketing Officer\Executive Director, Marketing, Greenplinth Africa, Chief Godwin Nnabugwu has said that the company plans to plant three Hundred million innovative trees in Lagos State.
He added that plans had been concluded for the company to deploy 8 million clean cooking stoves to very poor people in Lagos State.
Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Thursday, Nnabugwu lamented the negative impacts of climate change and appealed to the Governors to key into strategies that will mitigate the negative effects of climate change.
He said that afforestation could reduce insecurity perpetuated by herders.
Nnabugwu said: “The point we’re making here is that we want sub-nationals to help us fight this climate change. The reason for all the fighting that is happening everywhere is that people are looking for greener pastures for most of this fighting? So, climate change is affecting everything. It’s affecting everything we do, you know, the floods that we’re having everywhere.
“Sub-nationals should not close their eyes to such an opportunity of tree planting, so that they can, at least, re-afforest their place, have a greener space, and even get their people employed in what we’re doing. We thank God for Lagos State being able to key in. Of course, they set the pace. They understand what we’re doing and, you know, that’s it.
“Lagos State has been cooperating. We have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Lagos State to deploy eight million clean cooking stoves and plant three hundred million innovative trees in Lagos State.
“We have started the implementation of the Project in Lagos, with Implementation Retreat organised for the work force and 50 staff employed that carried the Baseline studies in all the local Government areas in Lagos.
“25th of this June, would be the presentation of the Clean Cook Stoves to the public and our engineers would teach us all how to cook with the stoves. Then the kick-off will be 30th June at Makoko Lagos, where we will be able to start distribution of the free cook stoves to the people of Lagos State in collaboration with the Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Climate Change and Circular Economy, Mrs Titi Oshodi.
“That’s the day the government will start giving out to the beneficiaries. And the bankers will be there as well to open accounts for the beneficiaries so that they can be receiving their monthly stipend of N10,000 without any manual intervention.”
He decried that the ozone layer has been depleted because of people cutting down trees.
He said the tree planting and clean cook stove strategy will get people to begin to enjoy cleaner air and prevent them from having respiratory diseases.
According to him, the project has no adverse effects. He added that there were commendations, social realignment, and testimonies of better matrimonial experiences with the previous clean cook stoves the company distributed.
Nnabugwu said: “In fact, it’s given us 90% efficiency, clean cooking from the laboratory results. You are coming to my point.
“My point is that it will cascade to health advantages. People who have been prone to using charcoal and other dirty forms of cooking. Such a method has a lot of implication in their health.
“But now giving them free breathing will help them be better in terms of their health. Health-wise, it’s going to improve our clean breathing, clean air.
“There was a woman whose husband started complimenting her for not smelling as she was allegedly doing before. When they go to the forest to get wood and cook, most women begin to have odour because of sweating and soot from firewood fuel. So, the husband was complimenting her and said, ‘look, this stove has helped her. You are no longer smelling.’”
