GOVERNOR ODODO DECLARES A STATE OF EMERGENCY IN THE EDUCATION SECTOR, WITH A CHARGE TO ENHANCE LEARNING CONDITIONS IN RURAL COMMUNITIES

The General Manager of KGCSDA, Chief Momoh Dauda, says the Executive Governor of Kogi state, in North Central Nigeria, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo had declared a State of Emergency in the education sector, and mandated the agency to reach out to rural communities to enhance learning conditions.
The GM disclosed this while receiving the people of Ola-Eniji community in Dekina Local Government Area on a “thank-you” visit for Gov Ododo’s intervention in the Community with New Classrooms, and Health Clinic facilities in the area on Thursday March 27, 2025 in Lokoja, Kogi State capital in North Central Nigeria.
Chief Momoh Dauda assured the community that the agency would continue to extend developmental projects to all nooks and crannies in the state.
The GM therefore, Commended the community for their cooperation for the completion of the projects.
“We commend the community for their cooperation, which contributed to the success of these projects,” Dauda said.
“We urge you to maintain these facilities for sustainability and ensure that peace continues to reign, as development thrives in a peaceful environment
Earlier, the President of the Ola-Eniji Community Development Association, Mr. Tijani Ogalla, who led the delegation to the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (KGCSDA) on a “thank-you” visit to appreciate the intervention, described “the projects as the best thing to have happened to the community in recent times, especially given its remote location”.
The Community therefore, expressed their profound gratitude to the Kogi State Government for providing a block of four classrooms and a primary health clinic, marking a significant milestone in the community’s development.
“When we started the process, many people were sceptical about whether it would come to fruition,” Ogalla stated. “But today, these projects have silenced the doubters. We are deeply grateful to Governor Usman Ododo for remembering our community through this agency.”
The Principal of Ola-Eniji Community Secondary School, Mr. Audu Atayi Linus, also commended the intervention, noting that the new classroom block has provided a conducive learning environment for over 500 students, who previously struggled with inadequate and dilapidated structures.
Meanwhile, KGCSDA Public Relations Officer Mr Daniels Dickson Itodo in a statement remarked that “the projects were funded under the Basic Services Infrastructure of the Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) Programme, a federal initiative aimed at improving local infrastructure and economic resilience.
“With this intervention, Ola-Eniji community now has better educational and healthcare facilities, bringing hope for a brighter future to its residents”.
