Iluke-Bunu community in Kogi State witnessed a historic moment today as Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo flagged off the complete rehabilitation of Government Secondary School, Iluke-Bunu, and the restoration of three boreholes in the community. The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Education, Mr. Wemi Jones, presented a cheque of ₦69 million through the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA) to kickstart the projects.
The commissioner described the initiative as a timely intervention to renovate and overhaul the school, which suffered significant damage in an attack and fire incident in 2020. He emphasized that the project aligns with the Ododo administration’s commitment to improving educational infrastructure, stating, “This intervention will revamp a major government presence in Bunu district and ensure the school produces quality students for the state’s tertiary institutions.”
Echoing similar sentiments, the Commissioner for Information, Evangelist Kingsley Fawunwo, an alumnus of the school, praised the government’s effort in fulfilling its promises to the people. He commended the Kogi CSDA as a vital vehicle for rural transformation and highlighted the governor’s unwavering dedication to spreading development across the state.
Chief Dauda Momoh, the General Manager of Kogi CSDA, lauded Governor Ododo for his support and for ensuring the funds were fully approved for the projects. He clarified that the community would bear no financial burden, as the initiative is a special intervention program.
The Olu of Iluke, His Royal Highness Oba Lawrence Ayimiro, expressed profound gratitude to the governor for prioritizing the community’s needs. He assured the state government of the community’s unwavering support for the projects and their maintenance.
