Gov Ododo, Education Stakeholders Hail Abu Michael As Oba Samuel Tolorunse Foundation Presents Appreciation Award, Launches Education Support Initiative

 

 

The Oba Samuel Sunday Tolorunse Educational Foundation has presented an appreciation award to the Managing Director, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Nigerian Post Newspaper, Mr. Abu Michael, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the development and progress of education in Kogi State and Nigeria.

The award ceremony, which also marked the official launch of the Foundation, was held at the Riverton Hotel, Lokoja, with the theme: “Transforming Educational Access and Youth Empowerment in Nigeria: Strategic Solutions for the Future of Kogi State.”

The event attracted dignitaries from across the State, including the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, who was represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), renowned academic, Prof. Emily Alemika, traditional rulers, heads of schools, students and members of Civil Society Organisations.

The Foundation, whose vision is geared towards eradicating poverty-induced school dropout in Kogi State and whose mission is to provide financial and relevant assistance to less privileged students with proven academic potential, lauded the efforts of Mr. Abu Michael as aligning perfectly with its objectives.

According to the Foundation, it also promotes inspirational educational activities that help young people thrive, a feat that underscores the mission and trajectory of the Managing Director of The Nigerian Post.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Foundation noted that its core values of accountability, mobility, sincerity, worthiness, enthusiasm and reliability have been exemplified by Abu Michael, whose contributions to educational advocacy, youth mentorship and community development over the last decades have been commendable.

In his response, Abu Michael expressed gratitude to the Foundation for the honour, describing it as a call to do more for education and humanity. He pledged continued support for initiatives that promote access to quality education and empowerment for indigent students.

He also commended the Foundation for its noble vision, stressing that education remains the most potent weapon against poverty and underdevelopment.

In his goodwill message, Governor Usman Ododo, through Hon. Wemi Jones, applauded the establishment of the Oba Samuel Sunday Tolorunse Educational Foundation, noting that its goals complement the state government’s commitment to transforming the education sector and investing in the future of Kogi youths.

Highlights of the event were the formal launch of the Foundation, presentation of awards to distinguished personalities, and a panel discussion on strategic solutions to educational access and youth empowerment in the state moderated by Abu Micheal.
