The most peaceful State status enjoyed by Kogi State in Nigeria has been attributed to quality Leadership style brought into governance and administration by Gov. Yahaya Bello.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara made the disclosure at the annual Joint Breakfast Dinner organized by Jama’atu Nasril Islam, Kogi State Chapter, said the peaceful status the State is enjoying today is because Gov. Yahaya Bello has prioritized security.
Commander Omodara described the Kogi State as a miniature Nigeria that should have been bedeviled with crisis, but said the State remains largely peaceful because Gov. Bello never placed any tribe or religion above another.
While noting that quality Leadership as shown by Gov. Bello cannot be quantified, he ascribed the leadership style to what has led to the peaceful coexistence of the people and with the State described as the most peaceful in Nigeria.
He maintained that if other State Governors can stand up to provide quality Leadership as is done by Gov. Bello, make the local hunters and vigilantees part of their security policy, the country would be a peaceful nation.
The Security Adviser described security as everybody’s responsibilities, said if people must defend themselves, the onus rest on them to provide the necessary information for security agencies to be able to tackle crimes and criminalities.
He described the geographical location of Kogi State as one that ought to have made the state the most insecure State in Nigeria, but said quality Leadership by Gov. Bello, good governance and his ability to work with the people has culminated into making the State the most peaceful in Nigeria.
Earlier in a welcome remarks, the Chairman of JNI, Ambassador Usman Bello, commended the promotion of religious harmony and peaceful amongst people of different faith in the State by the Government.
He said the interfaith breakfast dinner aims at demonstrating the strong desires to ensure a point of convergence with other religious groups in preaçhing the gospel of peace and harmony in a diversified and heterogeneous society as obtained in Kogi State.
Highpoints of the breakfast dinner were lecturers delivered by Sheikh Usman Taoheed, Chairman, Da’awah JNI on Religion as a force in Moral Development as well as Religion as the greatest unifying force among mankind by the Kogi State Chairman of CAN, Dr. Bishop John Ibenu.
