Gov. Bello reiterates efforts to address erosion menace in Kogi


 

 

 

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has intensifies efforts towards ensuring that community dwellers suffer do not suffer losses due to Gully Erosion.

 

The Governor through the State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project Coordinator and team, ( NEWMAP) visited Ogane Aji Community in Dekina, which is the largest L.G.A in Kogi State to address the gully Erosion that has being a life threatening menace to the community and had claimed over 15 lives already.

The Erosion caused by wrongful termination of drains for twenty-five years is now receiving the attention it deserves through the present administration of Yahaya Bello.

The Governor reinstated his commitment to keep the people and community safe from any harm that poses danger inform of natural or human disaster.

The Nigerianpost gathered that the Governor has immediately provided all necessary funds in partnership with the World Bank to commence civil Works. “The Governor has paid compensation to those that would be adversely affected

The Kogi State NEWMAP project coordinator, Barrister Ladi Jatto told the community people of plans the government has put in place to improve on the standard of living and to connect them to neighbouring communities they have been cut off from as a result of the land degradation caused by gully erosion.
