The successes achieved by the Kogi State Community and Social Development Agency has been attributed to the constant payment of counterpart funds and the enabling environment created
for the agency to effectively carry out her activities by Gov. Yahaya Bello.
A Journalists and Publisher of the Nigerianpost Newspaper, Mr. Abu Micheal made the disclosure in a presentation titled, Kogi CSDA; Touching lives Positively: The Momoh Dauda Example in a surprise put together by staffers of the agency to mark the 46th birthday anniversary of Mall. Momoh Dauda, GM, Kogi State CSDA.
Mr. Abu noted that until the assumption of office of Gov. Yahaya Bello and the appointment of Mr. Momoh Dauda, development in the State has to a large extent one that is mostly urban centred.
He however lauded Gov Bello’s rural development policy which he explained failed in the past years and in other administration’s owing to the lack of awareness and participation by the people, a factor which he opined tends to impede community development.
Mr. Abu disclosed that the Kogi State Community Social and Development Agency (KSCSDA) under the leadership of Mallam Momoh Dauda identified the people as topmost on its agenda if it must deliver on its mandate, attributed the successes recorded in project execution to the participatory approach the agency under the present Leadership hasl employed.
In his words, ” Though CSDP is a World Bank Assisted project that promotes Community driven development”, expressed satisfaction that under Mall. Momoh Leadership, the agency embarked on over 150 projects; 72 Micro projects in the East, over 70 in Central and over 68 in the West senatorial district respectively.
Mr. Abu stated that the CSDP has assisted communities in the implementation of their felt needs with Micro Projects in Education, Health, Rural Electrification, Transportation, Water, Socio-Economic, Environment/ Natural Resource and Gender & Vulnerable Groups (GVG), expressed satisfaction that the agency met its objectives for establishment under the Mall. Momoh Dauda led Leadership.
According to the Publisher, ” As laudable as the objectives for setting up CSDA was, until the administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello and under the leadership of Mall. Momoh Dauda, the essence of any development which was the people was relegated, appreciated the Gov. Bello’s administration for its people oriented style approach.
While pointing out that until the assumption of office of Mall. Momoh in 4th of April, 2018, the KS-CSDA was under suspension for over a year, be thus hindering project execution, however explained that the KS-CSDA between 2016-2020 Community and Social Development Project – Additional Financing, embarked on a number of micro-projects that are having direct impact on the socio-economic lives of the target population.
The reasons for the successes which stood out KS-CSDA under Mal. Momoh Dauda’s leadership, Mr. Abu explained includes transparency, sincerity of purpose, hardwork, Value for Money, Delegation of duties, motivation and a staff reward system.
Mr. Abu mentioned several Micro-projects in sectors of education, health, water, rural electrification, transport, socio-economic, environment and natural resources as well as gender and vulnerable groups as some achievements that has made CSDA to have touched lives positively: The Momoh Dauda Example.
Specifically, building of classroom blocks, health centers, drilling of boreholes, rural electrification, roads/bridges, market stalls, civic/skills acquisition centers and construction of VIP toilets in mentioned locations in the State the Publisher noted stands out KS- CSDA.
Mr. Abu took time to look at the processes in assessing Micro-projects by Communities, said Communities are made to pay 10 per cent counter-part fund of total project cost while the Agency approves, monitor implements/executes on stage-by-stage basis to ensure compliance to rules and standard.
This collaborative approach indeed he explained has led to successful completion of numerous projects on schedule, remains the secret to the success story of Kogi CSDA.
As a way to maintain that the projects executed by the agency are durable and sustained, the CSDA Mr. Abu explains trains beneficiary communities on facility maintenance and sustainability for Community Project Management Committee (CPMC).
He used the opportunity to thank Gov. Yahaya Bello for the regular payment of the State counterpart funds, equally praised the Governor for providing an enabling environment for the agency to effectively carry out her activities.
Mr. Abu charged the Mall Momoh led agency to under the CARES program sustain the feat that has made KS-CSDA an envy in the country, expressed optimism that Mall. Momoh and his team, who are as usual resolute, committed and programmed for result would once again live up to expectations, pointing out that they have demonstrated with the task given to them in time past that they would excell.
Mr. Abu concluded that Kogi State CSDA under the servant leadership of Mall. Momoh Dauda, had no doubt touched lives Positively, pointing out that without overstating the obvious, the CSDA under Mall. Momoh Dauda, is now a household name, accepted by the people, has remained truly a tool for sustainable community development having touched lives positively
The KS-CSDP is co-financed by the Federal Government and 30 participating states including Kogi State.
