“Gov. Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has changed the education narrative of the State from rot and decadence to hope, access, equity, infrastructural development and improved service delivery.

Hon. Wemi Jones, the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Kogi State made the disclosure at a presentation on ‘Building a viable economy through strategic investment in education sector’ at the 3rd Annual GYB Seminar for Political and Crime Correspondents/Editors, holding at Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.

The two-day seminar is aimed at empowering professionals on the beats in focus with relevant skills and information to perform their important roles efficiently.

Hon. Jones said Gov Bello on assumption Organized a State Education summit in 2018 tagged ‘Education Roadmap’ for Stakeholders to map out State education strategies as well as increased the State budgetary allocation to education by 30%.

Hon. Jones said the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has built a viable economy through strategic investment in the education sector of Kogi State.

” Gov. Bello prioritized Education as one of the key thematic areas of attention and increased the State budgetary allocation to education to 30%”.

“The policy thrust of the Government on education is to continue to improve education at all levels to citizens to produce articulated and skilled manpower and infrastructure necessary for the economic transformation of the State”.

“The policy of education under Gov. Bello has increased literacy rate, reduced rate of Out of School Children, increase quality of early child education,
improved quality of basic, secondary and tertiary education”.

” Gov. Bello’s administration has reduce girl-child school dropout rate,
increase quality of Science, Technical and Vocational Education (TVET),
increased quality of Science, Technological, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) enrolment among learners, Increase ICT skills and knowledge, among others”.

The Kogi State Education Commissioner said with the solid foundation laid by Gov. Bello in the education sector, it has become expedient to ensure continuity and sustainability with the election of Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, the APC Governorship candidate.
